Project Isaiah is utilizing a Community Participatory Action Research approach to address school based harm

Youth-Led Volunteer Projects: Learning Through Service, Leading Through Action

At Project Isaiah, we believe young people are not “leaders of tomorrow”—they are leaders right now. Our goal is to create programming that includes volunteer work that is built around youth-led, project-based learning. This allows young people to identify real community needs, design solutions, and take meaningful action.

Through hands-on service projects like food drives, community support efforts, research, and advocacy youth learn to:

  • Build leadership skills through real responsibilities and decision-making

  • Strengthen empathy and social awareness by working directly with community members

  • Apply academic and life skills in real-world contexts

  • Develop critical thinking and problem-solving abilities

  • Experience the power of collective impact

AND Project Isaiah wants to flip the script.... instead of labeling a child as “challenging,” we SEE children as visionaries, organizers, change makers and innovators. They can be seen for their strengths and gifts - and they can HEAR what a LEADER they are.

November 2025 Food Drive

Project Isaiah volunteered OVER 65 hours in November, distributing over 1,000 items to a local elementary school. This project came about in response to the freeze on EBT funds and concerns expressed by students and families. In partnership with St. Paul's UMC, Project Isaiah team advertised the food drive, check the expiration date of all donated items, and purchased requested items via donations.

December 2025 Ice Accompaniment

December 2nd, there was a record number of ICE Check-In appointments. In an effort to provide comfort to the children who were in line with their families, Isaiah passed on stuffed animals that had been donated by community members. We noticed how desired and appreciated hand warmers were as well, so we will do our best to collect and distribute this too. This will be the focus for the month of December.

January 2026

This will be our biggest volunteer effort to date!
